October - How to Scent Your Wedding For an Everlasting Euphoria

Updated: Oct 30, 2023

When it comes to your wedding, you want to capture every moment of your magical day and preserve it in a time capsule. The senses are incorporated and thoroughly overwhelmed during a wedding; the SIGHT of loved ones gathering around for cherished photos, the SOUND of laughter roaring from the groomsman's speech, the distinguished TASTE of the food and especially the cake, and the feeling when you TOUCH the fabric on your wedding gown, but what about capturing the SMELL of your special day? The smell of something can immediately trigger a detailed memory or an intense emotion. Here at Evodia Fragrances, we turn memories into an everlasting euphoria.

Memories are often associated with the sense of smell and we want only the best for you and your special day!

October, comes from the Latin word "octo", meaning "eight"; since it was originally the eighth month of the year for the Roman calendar, Romulus c. 750 BC. When January and February were added, creating the 12-month calendar, emperor after emperor attempted to change the name of October, but there was no such luck.

October is the height of autumn. October is nationally known as the "spooky" month, with many decorating and celebrating Halloween for all 31 days. Besides the sweets from trick-or-treating, we are captivated with the the smell of bonfires happening every night, and apple orchards in full production. As the weather starts to feel crisp, the leaves are showcasing all the magical shades of autumn, its almost to the point where outdoor weddings are wrapping up. With all the vast colors being showcased in October, incorporating a darker palette as the main color, will provide you the extra touch to make your wedding stand out.

Here at Evodia Fragrances, we only want the best for you. So no unpleasant aromas here. To capture every scent of Fall, Evodia Fragrances has over120 oils, and the euphoric aroma combinations we can create are endless!

Trick-or-Treat

  • "Trick or treat, smell my feet. Give me something good to eat!" We've all heard the phrase shouted mockingly by children in their costumes going door to door to earn their treat. The treat is usually some form of sugary candy, while the trick refers to an idle threat to perform mischief on a person or their property if they aren't rewarded with a treat. It is suggested that trick-or-treating evolved from a tradition whereby people impersonated the spirits, or the souls of the dead, and received offerings on their behalf. Impersonating these spirits or souls was also believed to protect oneself from them. Don't worry, there aren't any spirits here at Evodia Fragrances; just the sweet smells of candy confections with candles offering up some smokiness.

    • One example of our euphoric combinations include: A sweet aroma with peppy notes of Bubblegum and Peppermint, this scent caters childlike wonder. Animated notes of Strawberry, Cherry, and Watermelon provide a pop of gayness. Spunky notes of Black Licorice and Ambrosia flow through, which bring forth merriment.

Bonfire

  • It's October, fall is in full swing and the air has chilled enough that it's time to break out your sweaters and hoodies and head outside for a good old-fashioned bonfire. The origin of the word 'bonfire' (in 1605 Great Britain) comes from 'bone fire', which at the time was the name given to the burning of witches, heretics, and bones. Nowadays in some cultures, couples who were to be married on May Day would leap through the flames of a bonfire in order to seal their vows. We won't make you leap through a fire here at Evodia, so just enjoy the smoky, woodsy smells that come with sitting outside enjoying a bonfire with your friends and family.

    • One example of our euphoric combinations include: A woodsy, spicy aroma with hazy notes of Clove and Dirt, this scent heightens boldness. Smoldering notes of Agarwood, Spiced Cider, and Fresh Cut Wood provide an inkling of contentment. Flaming notes of Aspen Grass and Cinnamon flow through, which ignites fearlessness.

Apple Orchard

  • You might be a pumpkin spice person (as we mentioned in September's blog) or you might be an apple cider person. And other than making your own apple cider, the best place to get it from is at an apple orchard. Picture picking your own apples to prepare for your fall baking: apple pie/crumble, apple butter in the crock pot, or even caramel apples. If you're not one to get crafty in the kitchen, you can even use what you picked to bob for apples at a Halloween party. Regardless of the way you use your apples, we can all agree that the fresh scent of an apple orchard is sweet, earthy, and reminiscent.

    • One example of our euphoric combinations include: A fresh, fruity aroma with lush notes of Pumpkin Patch and Enchanted Orchid, this scent emanates clarity. Crisp notes of Amberwood Moss, Apple, and Sweet Grass provide a bushel of delight. Ornate notes of Sweet Rain and Bamboo & Teak flow through, which delivers a bite of fruitfulness.

October's Color of Everlasting Euphoria - Black Magic

Black itself is the color that results from the absence of light, therefore being the darkest color there is. It was one of the first colors used by humans to make art in cave drawings by grinding up charcoal. While some cultures link the color to death, darkness, and evil magic; it can also symbolize elegance, wealth, and power. In ancient Egypt the color black was used in a positive light as it was the color of the rich soil of the Nile River and associated with fertility. While the typical color for brides to wear is white, black can also be seen as an empowering color.

Black actually used to be a "normal" wedding dress color until 1840 when Queen Victoria decided to get married in a bright white wedding dress. Wealthy men insisted their brides wear white in order to publicly demonstrate their prosperity and social class. However, we're in the 21st century, and superstitions or worrying what the queen wore to her wedding are not important. How you feel on your special day is the most important thing. So wear the black gown you've been eyeing at the bridal shop, and you'll have all eyes on you.

If you want to stick to the traditional birthstone color for October, you can wear Opal; which, in its rough form, appears white, but shows a rainbow kaleidoscope on the surface when polished. It is believed that Opal can help calm the mind (of any wedding jitters), as well as promote loyalty and faithfulness. Opal is also given as a gift for a 14th wedding anniversary.

Regardless of your color palate, or your symbol for love; Evodia Fragrances will still create a bottle that complements your magical day! With over 20 colors and five bottle styles to choose from, you can create your perfect blend to capture the everlasting euphoria from your wedding. Check out this TikTok of a bride who created a custom bottle (that glows in the dark) and perfect fall scent of coziness.
